January 2020

We want to thank all of our supporters this year!

We are so grateful for everyone who has contributed and allowed us to build our capacity to help people. This community contributes so much, and we are so blessed to serve Wyoming.

This year WFCC has fulfilled approximately 400 patient requests. We were able to ease the burden of cancer for over 150 patients and their families while they went through cancer treatment. This allowed them to focus more on their treatment. This assistance helped pay mortgages, utility bills, and even vehicle maintenance as well as travel and lodging costs for those who had great financial need.

Our Travel/Lodging program alone constituted about 200 of this year's applications. In Wyoming, this program is vital for patients to continue their treatment. The travel costs and road conditions can be a barrier that causes patients to miss appointments or be unable to complete treatment.

Our fundraising season was very successful! We worked with Thankful Thursdays at the Beacon in April, and had a very successful auction thanks to all those who donated packages and who put hours of volunteer time in to make our auction fun and successful.

Our 1st time hosting the Annual Gumbo Cookoff was a blast! We enjoyed the day with 1000 community members who came out to volunteer, cook, host a vendor booth, show their cars, or just listen to music and taste gumbo!

This year was the 10th Annual Ta-Ta Trot for the Foundation! We had runners on the roads up around the Casper Event’s Center for the occasion, and over 200 people came out to participate this year. After the run we were able to volunteer at the free Cancer Screenings run by Rocky Mountain Oncology at the Women’s Expo.

This year’s Foundation Friday was held at the Wolcott Galleria. Our theme was Footsteps Across Wyoming, and we collected packages from across the state to celebrate everyone here, and the many businesses and individuals who make what we do possible across Wyoming.

Our Reindeer Relay is always a wonderful day, and a fun way to kick off the holiday season with the rest of the city before we watch the Annual Holiday Square lighting in Conwell Park. Despite the wind this year, everyone had a wonderful time, and our racers and our whole team enjoyed cocoa and schnapps catered by the Ramkota.

Our Breast Boutique in Casper has grown from a small closet and is now a comfortable dressing room stocked with several sizes of mastectomy prosthetics enabling us to fit patients accurately for their prosthetic order. The Boutique is fully stocked and able to help patients with in-kind donations if their insurance will not pay for their prosthetics or bras. We now have several volunteers trained to perform these fittings.

This year our Angel volunteers have continued to provide mentorship and support to patients at Rocky Mountain Oncology Center (RMOC) in Casper. Lead by the Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator at RMOC, they monitor the wig closet and the breast boutique, make new patient bags, and check in with patients weekly to assist with any other needs. The Angels host a large Thanksgiving meal for patients and their family members at RMOC and they deliver Thanksgiving meal kits to families who might need a little help to bring the holiday to their own table.

Exciting news! Our Angels program has now spread from Casper to Lander! This year we were able to recruit a small group of volunteers who will be supported by the longstanding and experienced Casper group of Angels. They will be able to assist with wig fittings and mentorship while handing out patient relief kits at RMOC’s sister center in Lander.

This year, we also built a beautiful new website so all can celebrate our special moments with us! Check out our application portal, register for our events, and look at photos from this year to enjoy our events and to learn more about the priceless patient assistance that you have made possible!

For 2020 we joined with the Blue Envelope Health Fund to grant funds to lease a beautiful Nissan Murano to Rocky Mountain Oncology to help transport patients to and from their appointments.

We look forward to seeing what the rest of the year will bring.

This past year has been wonderful and our goal is to be able to provide even more assistance for patients across Wyoming in 2020!
